Exploring Cultures From The Back Of a Camera

From Osaka to Flagstaff, Venice to Vancouver, I've spent a lot of time seeing the different places our Earth has to offer.

Don't just take photos; engineer them! My entire process is built on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), specifically Darktable.

1. Curation and Selection

Every adventure ends with thousands of files. I use Darktable's culling tools to choose the best of the best, and grouping specific types of photos into categories.

2. Digital Darkroom

No Adobe, no subscriptions. I rely exclusively on Darktable for non-destructive, high-bit-depth processing. It allows for granular control over color science and light without proprietary lock-in.

3. Deploy via API

Once exported, a custom REST API handles the rest. It automatically fetches, optimizes, and serves the gallery you see above, ensuring the code is as crisp as the photos.

Great photography isn't about the most expensive equipment, it's about knowing your tools. Here is the reliable gear I carry from the streets of Osaka to the canyons of Arizona.

The best camera is the one that's with you. But a drone in your backpack doesn't hurt either.
